The Director of Technical Services is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of professional services, solution architects, repair technicians, technical support and all the business systems / tools utilized by the company. As a member of the senior management team, this individual’s contribution to the organization will be to drive software and technology innovation to keep up with a fast pace of growth as well as plan for a stable future. You will be responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, and motivating the Technical Service Team, as well as coaching and mentoring other company managers. As Director of Technical Services, you will create accountabilities and incentives for employees and evaluate your Teams efficiency and productivity. Additionally, as the Director of Technical Services, you will collaborate with company executives to develop strategic plans for business growth based on short-term and long-term goals, communicate those goals to your team and guide them to attain the desirable profit-making results for the organization. This individual will also promote and support AB&R’s core values (Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Integrity, Fun) through the performance of assigned duties and their professional conduct.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Leads a team which includes project management, solution architects, software development, contract management, data analytics, quality control, repair technicians, technical support and technology and systems optimization.
- Reviews and continually improves business processes, policies, procedures and technology across the all technical services in order to identify and implement best practices and trends.
- Providing vision and leadership at all service levels of the organization by championing key technology initiatives that will scale and transform the way AB&R does business internally, with its clients and partners
- Prioritizing technology projects and managing workload scheduling and resourcing to ensure on-time and on-budget completion
- Developing and maintaining an effective technology organizational structure that supports the needs of the business
- Assesses the effectiveness and cost efficiencies of various technical services programs, risk management, and makes appropriate recommendations related to these areas.
- Designs, develops and implements tools /processes, performance metrics and reporting that enables better the technical services pipeline/forecast and resource management.
- Regularly schedule customer site visits with regional managers and collaborates with other members of the sales team to meet the financial objectives of the business.
- Proactively and productively collaborate across all levels and departments within the organization to strategize and deliver technology initiatives aligned with business initiatives.
- Regularly interacts with senior management on matters concerning all functional areas, teams, and/or customers.
- Building and managing to a technology budget that includes a prioritized project list, people strategy and line of sight to companywide goals and initiatives
- Ensures that the technical services team has a full understanding of expectations and are informed in a timely manner when these expectations are not met. Responds to emergency issues rapidly with well thought out approaches.
- Planning, structuring, recruiting and hiring for key technology service positions. Partners with Human Resources to evaluate employee performance and provide additional coaching and support as needed
EDUCATION
- Bachelors’ degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or University
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified
EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of senior project level experience.
- Strong data analytics and analysis expertise.
- Prior experience leading a team in a professional services organization
- Demonstrated leadership experience across multiple operational functions
- Decision-making skills in weighing the costs and benefits of various options to determine the best course of action to achieve company goals
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate the vision and direction of the organization.
- Strong history of relationship building and interpersonal skills.
- Credible executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- The job will require the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and ratios. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
REASONING ABILITY
- The job will require the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
TRAVEL
- Approximately 30% overnight travel will be required.
