Summary

AB&R is looking for an Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) technical professional who is responsible for providing guidance and oversight for the design and delivery of robust barcoding and RFID solutions that meet the customer needs leveraging AB&R core competencies. The Principal Solution Architect is a strategic thinker that has long-range goal in mind.

 

Job Description

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will be part of a highly visible, strategic team focused on aligning a client’s objectives with tactical solutions. By performing an onsite analysis, you will deliver a “blueprint” that provides a common understanding of the client’s business problem and the recommended technical solution that leverages AB&R’s core competencies and partnerships required to meet the objective. The Principal is also responsible for collaborating with AB&R Executive Leadership to establish and drive go to market technical strategies.

 

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Be the Barcode and RFID subject matter expert.
• Oversee the project’s conception, design and initial specifications and support the Project Manager in scheduling, estimating and securing materials.
• Proactively works with Members of the Sales Team to close clients on project sites surveys and Solution Requirement Design Studies (SRDS).
• Architects the required SRDS documentation in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
• Instrumental in the selection of all the needed components of AB&R’s core asset tracking and inventory management solutions.
• Executes the System Design, Qualification and Implementation Phases of our Solution Process.
• Works closely with the VP of Technical Operations to design the required post-sales support structure for all core solutions offered.
• Provides technical support to the Solution Architects and Sales Team to educate them on new asset tracking inventory management developments.
• Continually researches RFID technology developments that impact AB&R’s sales and marketing strategy
• Establishes and fosters strong relationships with a broad audience of clients, service providers, vendor partners, technical peers, and management.
• Assists Sr. Management in the selection of non-core ISV’s to be used as referral partners for other barcode and RFID solutions.

 

Metrics of Success

• Delivers and presents SRDS documents to clients within two weeks of completing the Site Survey.
• Move 50% of client Site Surveys to Pilot.
• Move 50% of Pilot projects to full production.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• People Interaction – We are looking for someone that has shown competency relating technical information to non-technical individuals.  Public speaking experience is a plus.
• Must be able to accurately and efficiently work on multiple projects simultaneously and communicate status to project managers promptly.
• Strong Technical Writing experience is preferred.
• Must be proficient working with databases and have knowledge of database concepts.
• Hardware – Experience configuring IT hardware.
• Familiar with Windows .NET and Android programming is a plus.
• Knowledge of GS1 Standards is a plus.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills

The job will require the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability

The job will require the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Travel

The position is Phoenix based, but travel to client and potential client sites is required. Travel could be up to 50% of the time.
